Spending more on ads is not always an option, and it is often not the answer anyway. This workshop series is built around the question of how businesses with tight budgets actually bring in new customers consistently — not through viral moments, but through repeatable, low-cost methods that compound over time.

The specific problem we are working on

Many small businesses rely on referrals and word of mouth, which is fine until growth stalls. When you need to add 5 to 10 new clients in a quarter without a large advertising budget, you need a different set of tools. This series covers 4 acquisition channels that work well at low spend: content that ranks in search, strategic partnerships with adjacent businesses, direct outreach done properly, and community presence.

What you will actually do during sessions

Each of the 4 sessions is a 2-hour working session, not a lecture. You will leave each one with something built: a keyword list, a partnership outreach message, a direct email sequence, or a community engagement plan. The facilitator works through examples from real businesses in retail, professional services, and trades.

Realistic expectations

Acquisition takes time to compound. Most participants who apply what they build during this series start seeing consistent new enquiries within 60 to 90 days. Some see results faster, particularly from the direct outreach session. There are no guarantees, and results vary depending on your industry and how much time you invest in implementation.

Participant Declan Murtagh, who runs a small accountancy practice in Cork, described the partnership session as the most immediately useful thing he had done for his business in 3 years.

What this program covers

Workshop Sessions

  1. Session 1 — Search and Content: Identifying 12 to 20 search terms your ideal customers actually use. Building a simple 3-month content plan around those terms without needing a writer or agency.
  2. Session 2 — Strategic Partnerships: Finding 8 to 10 businesses that serve the same customers you do but do not compete with you. Drafting a partnership proposal that gives them a clear reason to refer.
  3. Session 3 — Direct Outreach: Writing a cold outreach sequence of 3 messages that does not feel automated or impersonal. Identifying the right contacts and the right platforms for your industry.
  4. Session 4 — Community Presence: Choosing 1 or 2 communities — online or local — where your customers spend time. Building a participation plan that positions you as someone worth talking to, not just someone selling.

Between sessions, participants complete a short task (30 to 45 minutes) to prepare for the next workshop. This is where most of the real work happens.
